[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s time to put on your dancing shoes! The Singing Men of Ohio are presenting the 13th annual Acapella Invitational this Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
The invitational, known as the longest-running acapella invitational at Ohio University, will feature five OHIO acapella groups, including Section Eight, the premiere men’s acapella group auditioned out of the Singing Men of Ohio; Title IX, an all-female group auditioned from the OHIO Women’s Ensemble; Leading Tones, an all-male acapella ensemble; Tempo Tantrums, an all-female independent group; and New Chords on the Block, a co-ed independent group.
“The event is for any student, faculty, administrator or community member who wants to see an amazing, creative, entertaining concert,” said Jimmy Herpy, vice president of the Singing Men of Ohio. “This show is completely different, a bit more edgy and exciting, especially considering our groups can choose our own repertoire – usually pop and indie songs.”
This year’s concert will highlight approximately 80 Bobcat student performers from various majors and backgrounds. As an added bonus, and for the first time ever, DJ Cle-OH, a baritone in the Singing Men of Ohio, will be deejaying and emceeing the event.
The Acapella Invitational works to unite and connect acapella groups on the Athens Campus while also showcasing their vocal talents to the rest of the OHIO and Athens communities.
